Swing Festival

On June 27 & 28, 2008 Queer Ballroom held the first *North American Same Sex Ballroom Championships™
at 1st North American Same Sex Dance Camp!

Queer Ballroom started the Championships in 2007 with the North American region as a title in the first North American Same Sex Swing Championships at our Swing Festival.

Queer Ballroom planned the North American Same Sex Ballroom Championships™ at the end of 2006 and announced it in 2007 to the general community and at the first meeting to start the North American Same Sex Ballroom Association (not affiliated with the Queer Ballroom). Many judges and teachers in the community were supportive of our event including Kurt Popp (pictured below). The afformentioned group above was not supportive and used our trademarked title without our permission.

Kurt Popp (pictured here) our head judge; He is adjudicator for international ballroom and latin dancing with NDCA and terpsichore. A dance teacher education in germany (ADTV certification) and over 25 years of teaching experience of amateurs and professionals in International and American style! Kurt currently teaches Same Sex International Dance in San Diego with his dance partner, a support of Same Sex Dancing, Tammy Luckett (pictured here).
